Gym Wednesday Report

Portland Trail Blazers open their practice facility to the media on Wednesday. While reporters could not see the play at Court, Blazers guard Wesley Matthews and forward Luke Babbitt took questions afterwards. The great Earl Barron and guard blazer candidate Nolan Smith were among the other at the gym the Blazers.

Matthews confirms that he is in good health – minus the bug recently–and that both legs are good to go.

Most of the talk centered on the Blazers coach Nate McMillan's recent statement that he was "leaning towards" making use of Brandon Roy as the start of a two-guard. Matthews stepped into the starting role while Roy had surgery last season and remained in place because the Blazers managed Roy minutes upon his return.

Matthews most said things that were politically correct but did admit he viewed himself as a starter.

"I want to be on the Court," said Matthews. "I would be lying if I said that I don't want to be on the Court. I would be lying if I said I don't see myself as a starter. "
